Understanding Autoimmune Disorders: Sarcoidosis and Scleroderma

Updated: Aug 10

Sarcoidosis: An Overview

Sarcoidosis is an inflammatory condition that often results in the formation of granulomas—small clusters of immune cells—in various organs. Although it primarily targets the lungs, sarcoidosis can also involve the skin, eyes, liver, heart, and even the brain. According to the American Lung Association, around 200,000 people in the U.S. are diagnosed with sarcoidosis each year.

Symptoms of Sarcoidosis

Symptoms vary based on which organs are affected, and common manifestations may include:

General Symptoms:

  • Extreme tiredness (Fatigue): This can be a persistent and debilitating symptom.

  • Fever: May be a sign of active inflammation.

  • Night sweats: Excessive sweating, especially during the night.

  • Swollen lymph nodes: Can be a sign of inflammation and immune system activation.

  • Joint pain and swelling: Can mimic arthritis.

  • Depression: Can be a consequence of chronic illness and pain.

Pulmonary (Lung) Symptoms:

  • Shortness of breath (dyspnea): Difficulty breathing, especially during physical activity.

  • Dry cough: A persistent cough that doesn't produce mucus.

  • Chest pain: Can be related to inflammation in the lungs or chest wall.

  • Wheezing: A whistling sound during breathing, indicating airway narrowing.

Skin Symptoms:

  • Rashes: Various types of rashes can occur, including red, raised bumps (papules) or discolored patches (plaques).

  • Lumps under the skin (subcutaneous nodules): These can be tender and painful.

  • Discoloration: Changes in skin pigmentation, such as darker or lighter patches.

  • Skin lesions in scar tissue: Granulomas can form in scar tissue.

Other Possible Symptoms:

  • Eye problems: Uveitis (inflammation of the middle layer of the eye), conjunctivitis, blurred vision, light sensitivity.

  • Cardiac involvement: Irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia), palpitations, chest pain, and shortness of breath.

  • Neurological problems: Headaches, numbness or weakness in limbs or face.

  • Liver and spleen enlargement: May cause abdominal pain or discomfort.

  • Kidney problems: Increased thirst or kidney stones.

In severe cases, patients may experience neurological symptoms such as headaches, mood changes, or cognitive difficulties if the brain is involved.

Connection to Hodges Disease

Hodges Disease, also known as Hodgkin's lymphoma, is a cancer affecting the lymphatic system. Emerging research highlights a potential link between sarcoidosis and Hodgkin's lymphoma due to their shared involvement of lymphatic tissue. While the precise nature of this relationship is still under investigation, research shows that sarcoidosis may precede Hodgkin's, complicating diagnoses and ongoing treatment plans.

Scleroderma: Exploring Its Effects

Scleroderma is another intricate autoimmune condition characterized by the hardening and tightening of the skin and connective tissues. This disorder can either be localized—affecting only specific body parts—or systemic, impacting critical organs like the heart, lungs, and gastrointestinal tract. The Scleroderma Foundation states that around 75,000 people in the U.S. are living with this illness.

Symptoms of Scleroderma

Symptoms can differ significantly from one person to another, but some common signs include:

Musculoskeletal System:

  • Joint Pain and Stiffness: Pain, swelling, and stiffness in the joints, particularly the fingers, wrists, and elbows, are common.

  • Muscle Weakness and Pain: Muscle pain and weakness can occur, and joints may become fixed in a flexed position due to skin tightening.

  • Grating Sounds: A grating or rubbing sound may be heard when moving inflamed joints.

Internal Organs:

  • Digestive Problems:

Difficulty swallowing, heartburn, bloating, constipation, and diarrhea can occur due to esophageal and intestinal involvement.

  • Lung Problems:

Scarring of the lungs can lead to shortness of breath and reduced exercise capacity.

  • Heart Problems:

Scleroderma can affect the heart, potentially causing abnormal heart rhythms, heart failure, and pulmonary hypertension (high blood pressure in the lungs).

  • Kidney Problems:

Kidney disease and high blood pressure can occur, especially in systemic scleroderma.

Gastrointestinal problems can severely impact quality of life, with difficulties such as chronic constipation or bloating affecting many patients.

The Role of P.E.R.L. in Healing

At Healing Oasis, we use P.E.R.L. technology to leverage energy frequencies for addressing autoimmune symptoms. These frequencies are thought to help restore cellular balance, promoting healing and overall wellness. Clients suffering from sarcoidosis and scleroderma have reported experiences such as:

  • Increased Energy Levels: Many observe a noticeable boost in daily energy.

  • Reduction in Symptoms: Clients frequently mention a decrease in discomfort and recurrence of symptoms, as well as a complete reversal of their conditions.

The Mechanism Behind P.E.R.L.

P.E.R.L. technology operates on the concept that light can profoundly influence biological functions. When photons interact with the body's cells, they stimulate repair processes. The P.E.R.L. produces energy frequencies that impact the energy frequencies being output by the dysfunction in the body. The P.E.R.L frequencies are received on a cellular level for the healing process to begin.

  • Improved Blood Flow: Enhanced circulation to affected areas may accelerate healing.

  • Boosted Metabolic Processes: Cells can rejuvenate and recover more efficiently.

  • Cell Membrane Stabilization: This may help reduce inflammation and restore balance.

Moving Forward with Hope

At Healing Oasis, our dedication to utilizing P.E.R.L. energy frequencies aims to empower clients and enhance their health. As we continue to explore innovative and holistic solutions, we believe that the journey toward healing may offer renewed hope for those struggling with autoimmune diseases. By staying engaged in the discovery of alternative therapies, individuals can take control of their health and find the relief they seek.
